Ski Lodge Heavy Metal Holidays started as a tongue-in-cheek rebellion against the endlessly sweet and predictable December playbook. Underneath all the hardcore and theatrics, though, lives a real soft heart, and that’s the punchline. The polar hardcore vibe, with Bad Santa, leather jackets, loud music, and even louder (and offensive) cocktail names, is all just an armor that it wears in public, whereas inside, the experience is warm, sweet, and deeply generous, just how the holidays should be. My favorite cocktail changes day-to-day, but if I were there right now, I would order a Koffee Krampus, a richly spiced, slightly wicked winter pick-me-up that basically karate-kicks an Espresso Martini straight into a mosh pit.
